1. TO COMPUTE MOISTURE RETENTION
EXAMPLE (400-lb. Capacity Dryer):
Weight of load after extraction: 650 pounds
Weight of load after drying: - 400
pounds
Amount of water removed: 250 pounds
Divide water removed by dry weight:
250-lb. water / 400-lb. dry weight =
63% Retention
3. TO COMPUTE BTU PER POUND OF WATER REMOVED
Dryer
must have a gas meter installed or all other gas equipment must be turned off. This will allow the use of the plant
oil supply meter.
Meter or count the cubic feet of gas consumed for that particular
load and multiply it by the BTU content of your gas (contact your local gas company for content).
EXAMPLE:
475 cubic feet X 1050 BTU (content) = 498,750 BTU's used
Divide BTU used by pounds of water removed.
498,750 BTU / 250-lb. H2O
= 1995 BTU per lb. of H20 removed
