BUYING  DECISIONS

COMMERCIAL (MID-RANGE)

As you know, not everyone drives a BMW or Porsche.  Most people pay less and expect less in return.  In the same regard, not every laundry could or should purchase at the high-end of the spectrum.

There are many decent commercial "mid-range" dryers available.  These machines are built with lighter overall construction than industrial designs and use thin metal outside panels.  Most are driven with belts and pulleys connected to a rear basket shaft.  Commercial machines typically last for 7 - 14 years with normal operation and maintenance.

THE TOP FIVE BENEFITS OF A MID-RANGE DRYER

Low Purchase Price - as much as 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of high-end

Low Installation Costs - lighter weights, smaller ducting, smaller gas lines and electrical cables, etc.

Easy to Operate - simple controls - timers for heat and cooldown or simple "time & temperature" controls

Less Costly to Maintain - few expensive parts to replace - less technical skill required

Reduced Load Handling Issues - smaller capacity designs

INDUSTRIAL (HIGH-END)

While expensive to purchase, industrial dryers are extremely efficient and productive machines.  They come in large capacities and yield large volumes of work, so less machines are required to handle the workload.  High-end industrial machines typically have a good degree of tilt to improve loading and unloading ability.  They may also include controls that simplify heat cycle termination (remove the guess work).

THE TOP FIVE BENEFITS OF A HIGH-END DRYER

Low Operating Costs - due to efficient heating and better airflow

High Production - may dry up to 4-times faster than a mid-range design

Better Control Over the Drying Cycle - including precise control over heat cycle termination and customer-programmable formulas that are customized for each product to prevent costly over-drying and under-drying conditions

20 - 30 Year Service Life - adds to your ability to resell the machine (high re-sell value)

Pass-Through Processing and/or Semi-Automated or Fully Automatic Operation

Before your purchase, think about what you really need.  Prepare to spend some money if you need the high volume and low operating costs that only industrial machines can offer.

If you're on a budget, you have two choices, a good "used" high-end dryer or several "new" commercial machines.  "Used" should be considered only if you already have good maintenance expertise or if you have good familiarity with a certain brand.
